Sometime in the 1980s a friend who had a pilot license flew us down to Monterey for the day. As we were returning to the airport, C. pointed out the low clouds that were settling in. She thought we could probably get out before it got too foggy to fly, but she didn't want to chance it. So we rented a car and drove back. I wonder how many of the private pilot deaths are because the pilot made the risky choice, instead of the abundance-of-caution choice. It reminds me of a poster I saw in the office of a regional airline in Idaho. The wording was something like this: "A superior pilot is someone who uses superior judgement to avoid situations that require superior skill."

PS. Very cool video. It gave me the willies just watching it.
